Meet Our Team

Dr. Chrissy Scott

My name is Chrissy Scott, and I am a Pediatric Dentist.  I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and hope that we can get acquainted in the near future.

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida.  Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be a dentist and that I wanted to live in Atlanta.  While in college at Florida State, I worked as a dental assistant and confirmed that dentistry was definitely for me.  I attended dental school at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, earning my DDS degree in 1996.  Knowing that I wanted to work with kids as a Pediatric Dentist, I did a two-year residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

After finishing my residency in 1998, I could not wait to move to Atlanta to start practicing and working with children.  When I moved to Atlanta I met my husband, Shawn, fell in love, got married and now have two adorable little girls, Katherine and Caroline.  I worked for 8 years at a practice in Alpharetta, Georgia.  When I had my daughters, I decided that I wanted to work closer to our home and be more of a part of our great Dunwoody community.  We opened our practice in Dunwoody Village in April 2007.

As a mother, I appreciate the extremely important decisions that parents must make in the care of their children's health, including the care of their teeth.  I promise to provide you with the information you need to make the best decisions possible for your family's dental well-being.  More importantly, I will provide your children with individualized care and dental healthcare choices to fit their specific needs - my highest priority is the comfort and health of our patients and their families.

Here are a few of my professional accomplishments and societies that I belong to.  I am board-certified by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  I am also a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Georgia Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the Hinman Dental Society.  In 2007, I became the course director for the Pediatric Emergencies in the Dental Office Continuing Education course.

Denise Machinea

My name is Denise, and I have been working with Dr. Scott since January 2009.  I am one of the dental assistants here, and I thoroughly love working with children and seeing their happy little faces everyday!  I had the pleasure of working in general dentistry for several years, but I knew that pediatrics was my calling!  I graduated from dental assisting school in 2001, and I am current in my CPR, nitrous oxide and radiology certifications.  I love working chairside with Dr. Scott, and I completely enjoy making little ones comfortable during their procedures.

I moved here from California in 2004, and I feel like a Georgia peach already!  I reside in Forsyth county with my 13 year old daughter, Lexi, and love having my immediate family here in Georgia, as well!  I am very thankful to be a part of such a great dental team, but I am most thankful for the friendships that I have gained from working with them all!

My name is Tiffany, and I am one of the pediatric dental assistants!  I have been in dentistry since ’98 and graduated dental assisting school in 2002.

I love pediatric dentistry, and I absolutely love working with Dr. Scott and her staff!  Each day is so special having lots of little ones so excited to see us!

I’m a sweet southern-belle from Alabama, but I have lived in the wonderful Dunwoody community for the past three years!  My husband, Darius, and my three girls, J’Niya, London and Kylie keep me very busy!  When I am not at work, you can find me out enjoying my community or at school with my own little angels!  I cherish the moments that I get to hug not only on my girls while they’re little, but also on your little ones when they come in!  Hope to see you soon!

Shauny Shoemaker

Hello!

My name is Shauny, and I am one of the dental hygienists working for Dr. Scott. I love coming to work every week to see your little munchkins, and I am thankful to work for such a friendly, welcoming staff.

A little bit about myself … I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I was destined to go into the dental field. My oldest brother is a dentist in Spokane, Washington and my sister is a dental hygienist in Salt Lake. I also have a sister-inlaw, step brother-in-law, and a step-brother in the dental field; so we definitely can talk “teeth” at our family reunions.

I graduated in dental hygiene from Salt Lake Community College in May of 2010. Three weeks later, I married my southern sweetie, Clint. He then swept me off to Georgia in September of 2010 to join an accounting firm. To make sure I became a true Georgia girl, he introduced me to boiled peanuts, black-eyed peas, grits, southern barbeque, and his own home-made sweet potato pie!

Apart from work, you will find me sight-seeing the southern U.S., searching for a good read or movie at the library, tackling a new recipe, or spending time with my hubby and family.

Alicia Mimms

Hey y’all, my name is Alicia. I’m a Georgia Native and a true Georgia Peach! I’ve worked in pediatric dentistry since 1999. I worked with Dr. Scott as an assistant years ago and since became a hygienist. I am thrilled to have joined her dental hygiene team in August, 2013.
Pediatrics is so much fun and I would never choose to work in another type of dental office. Outside the office, my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my high school sweetheart and husband of 15 years. We enjoy riding our Harley, Jeeping, spending time with our family and camping with our 4 legged basset hound, Dixie.
